Kohl´s Department Store to Open at New Towne Mall
New Philadelphia, Ohio (May 18, 2005) -- New Towne Mall announced today that Kohl´s department store plans to open an 81,000 square foot store in the former Ames location at the mall. Construction has begun, with plans for the new store to open in early fall.
Kohl´s, a Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin - based company, is a family-focused, value oriented specialty department store offering moderately priced national brand apparel, shoes, accessories and home products. The company operates 652 stores in 40 states.
"Kohl´s offers quality merchandise at great prices, and is a highly requested store in this market," said Michael Glimcher, President and CEO of Glimcher Realty Trust. "Kohl´s offers apparel, shoes and accessories, as well as home products like small electrics, bedding and luggage. Kohl´s is a great complement to New Towne Mall and the New Philadelphia market."
The addition of Kohl´s at New Towne Mall will complement the continuous enhancements that have rejuvenated New Towne Mall in the past year. The anchor store additions of Super Fitness Center and Goody´s Family Clothing filled 70,000 square feet at the northeast portion of the mall. In addition, Payless ShoeSource relocated & expanded and Empire China Buffet added an Asian flair to the west end of the center. PacSun grand opened in March 2005, exceeding their expectations in the marketplace. And most recently, Elder-Beerman has announced their expansion and renovations and is currently under construction with plans to open in late summer.
