New Towne Mall Enters 18th Year in Business

New Towne Mall continues to excel through its 18th year in business into 2007. Many exciting changes occurred at New Towne Mall in 2006, including store additions and expansions; and New Towne Mall has shown that its continued support for the community is steadfast.

New Towne Mall witnessed exciting growth in 2006 with the addition of Hot Topic, Kay Jewelers, China Shuttle, Raven Rock Workwear, Perry´s Glo-Putt and Osaka Japan Grille. Those additions, along with the move and expansion of Auntie Anne´s, have brought New Towne Mall to a 98% occupancy rating, the most leased New Towne Mall has ever been.

"This is a very exciting time at New Towne Mall," said Kristie Holmes, marketing director. "We now have all of welcomed five new permanent stores this year. Our customers are pleased with our expanding list of impressive retailers, and so are we."

Many national and regional retailers showed notable sales gains as well in 2006. Among those success stories include Regal Cinemas, Claire´s Boutique, Auntie Anne´s, Radio Shack, Bath and Body Works, Dunham´s Sporting Goods and GNC.

A number of strong local specialty shops have brought a local flair to the mall. Stores including A1 Wireless, Brackney Leather, Finders Keepers, Kool Ragz, A Dollar and Seattle Café make great additions to New Towne Mall’s tenant mix.

"The success of our small shops, coupled with the staying power of our long-time department stores including JCPenney, Elder Beerman, Sears and year-old Kohl´s, makes New Towne Mall an exceptionally strong shopping center as we enter 2007. Our current occupancy rating is outstanding," said Greg Fleser, General Manager.

Along with growth in sales and stores, New Towne Mall is entering 2007 with a continued dedication to permanent leasing. "In keeping with the national trends, our corporate and local leasing departments continue to dedicate themselves to attracting strong national and regional retailers," says Holmes. "The great stability of New Towne’s existing stores, coupled with the dedication of the leasing departments, promises for continued growth at New Towne Mall. Look for new and exciting stores to begin construction at New Towne Mall in 2007!"

New Towne Mall continues its support for the community through several annual events, such as the Spring Home and Garden Show and Agriculture Expo and through fundraising programs including the newly revised coupon card program and Magical Night of Giving. Throughout the months of November and December, Hospice of Tuscarawas County displayed their Angel Trees, a Giving Tree was erected to benefit Share-A-Christmas and First Baptist Church had a successful holiday gift-wrap promotion.

New Towne Mall successfully launched an exciting new program during Back to School called Tools for Your School. This program provided $9000 in cash donations to three area schools. Funds were gathered from multiple sources, the most significant of which is the mall´s fountain. The program focused on shopper´s redeeming sales receipts and points going to the school of their choice. The top three points-receiving schools won cash donations.

New Towne Mall’s eighth annual Magical Night of Giving, hosted on November 19, helped raise over $25,000 for local non-profit organizations. Magical Night of Giving is the mall’s annual charity event in which non-profit groups can sell tickets to an exclusive evening of shopping and holiday entertainment. Over $6,000 in prizes were awarded including a Celebrity Cruise to the Bahamas.

As the Internet and online shopping grows in popularity, New Towne Mall continues to update and revamp its website to assist shoppers in their online experience. The mall´s website has been a very successful medium for customers to visit and see a full list of stores, find out about upcoming events, make a shopping list and find general information about the mall, it’s stores and services. In addition, at www.newtownemall.com, customers can purchase New Towne Mall gift cards and learn about their usage. Customers can also join the "Hot Tips Network," an e-mail alert program that sends e-mail messaging about upcoming mall events, sales and new fashion trends.
