$10,000 to be Awarded to Local Area Schools

$10,000 to be Awarded to Local Area Schools

"Earning for Learning" turns money spent at New Towne Mall into cash prizes for local schools

New Philadelphia, Ohio (August 1, 2007) – New Towne Mall officials announced today that for the second year in a row, the mall will award $10,000 to local area schools this fall. New Towne Mall drives its commitment to children’s education through Earning for Learning, formerly known as Tools for Your School, a partnership program designed to promote and support education in local school districts. Earning for Learning encourages local residents to shop at New Towne Mall over a 9-week promotional period to earn "points," and ultimately the chance to win cash prizes, for the school of their choice.

"We are so excited to bring this program to the Tuscarawas Valley again this year. Schools are so important to our community and we are very proud to offer this program in our area in support of our local schools," said Kristie Holmes, marketing director at New Towne Mall. "We´re pleased that this program was so successful in its inaugural year and that Earning for Learning has become an annual event at New Towne Mall."

August 1 through September 30, each dollar that customers spend can be turned into points for the school of their choice. Mondays and Tuesdays are identified as "Double-Point Days" and receipts from those select days earn the school double points. New Towne Mall Gift Card purchases earn shoppers triple points every day.Shoppers simply redeem their receipts for points at the Mall Management Office near the food court and designate their points to the school of their choice.

New Towne Mall will keep a tally board updated bi-weekly at the mall with a running total of each school’s points. At the end of the contest, the top four schools will be awarded cash prizes of $5000, $2500, $1500 and $1000 respectively. Shoppers have until September 30, 2007 to turn in their receipts at New Towne Mall.

At the end of the contest, winning schools will be invited to a ceremony where they will receive their prizes. The winning schools will be notified by October 15, 2007.

Last year, over 100,000 points were totaled for the Tuscarawas County area schools. Sacred Heart, last year´s grand prize winner, was awarded $5,000.

Every school (K-12) in Tuscarawas County is eligible to participate in the contest and is not required to register. New Towne Mall encourages residents to show their school spirit by participating in the Earning for Learning program and turn their shopping dollars into money for local schools.

Earning for Learning is sponsored locally by WTUZ Radio and the Times Reporter.
